I was in the o.r. working with my favoritest boss (I'm going to refer to him as Dr. D from now on btw), and he told me he thinks I really should either get my MD or my MD/Phd. He seems to think my skills are being wasted.
I am a little torn. I am finally about to defend my Master's thesis in population ecology, but a Master's or Phd in epidemiology or parasitology would really interest me. I can't really afford that. I am more likely to either turn my Master's (which is really all about parasites)into a Phd, or go get a RN/Anesthetist degree.
What to do, what to do?
Any suggestions?

good thing 1.
The doc I had the altercation with the other day came and apologized to me today for freaking out on me. He says he knows I wasn't trying to offend him, he just has "issues". I can deal with that.
good thing 2.
The head of our practice is a pretty nice guy. I have liked him from day one and have even worked for him on the side when he needed help with his other buisiness and wanted to give me some extra loot. He is not the boss I frequently refer to as 'my favorite boss', this guy is cool too, I just spend 85% of my time with 'my favorite boss'. So anyway, the dept head wears these funny shoes that are rounded on the bottom, so you kind of roll from heel to toe. These shoes are supposed to be really great for your joints and posture and muscle tone etc. I asked him about them and he said he had new ones in his office and he went and got them for me to try on. They are sooo cool! But they are $250 bucks a pair. He said they would be good for my injured hip, he then said he was buying a pair for me and a pair for my co-worker so we could all roll down the hall together. He had us pick out the ones we want and they should be here by tuesday. Pretty damn nice of him hey? Let's hope they are not a parting gift and he tells us "here's some shoes, now use them and get out of here, you're canned!"

We had a pretty good amount of snow yesterday (10+ inches). Several of the docs I work with came up to me during the day and said things like "I was so worried about you coming in when I saw the snow" . How sweet is that? They all know how much it will mess up my hip if I slip and twist it. Falling isn't as much of a problem because the bones are strong, it's the 'almost falling' that will really mess me up. It's nice to know that even if that one doc thinks I am evil, some of the others still like me enough to think of me when it snows.

to take a tiny bit of the edge off the sadness of the post right before this one, I just got a contract for $40,000.00 for a research project!

Ok, I know I have been nothing but negative lately. So in the spirit of looking on the bright side of things I have made a list of good stuff I have going on;
1. the most wonderful GF in the world
2. a doggie who loves me
3. a stable and nice home
4. a job, with health insurance, bonuses, raises, and profit sharing.
5. a great boss
6. a graduate supervisor who is supportive
7. nice co-workers
8. a family I actually like
9. my little CRV that goes zoom!
10. my kayak that goes swoosh!

My dear friend who has been fighting leukemia since last August (and almost died several times, including in the middle of the marrow transplant!) just got her lab results. The donor marrow has finally taken over and eliminated her own marrow. She is now classified as CURED!!! She'll have to be monitored for years, but it's GONE!!!!!!!!
